I have to tell you that this is one of the few games that seems to get even better on additional playthroughs.

The game rewards knowledge so it does make sense to me

As for the lack of potions, maybe I completed all quests with Busho in the ice shrine, so there is always a possibility.
If one of you guys or gals could try and keep note of any potential potions in the Ice Shrine, that'd be fantastic!
From that I could see if an extra potion needs to be added somewhere.

I've been keeping meticulous (and hopefully accurate) notes for future years.

@Kimo- You've pretty much covered it all. I do have a few ghoul eggs (found in chests) and frozen eyes (found in ice holes), but the only other important potion is the cosmic potion that you already mentioned. It is possible to get a few 'lucky drops' of hero potions with the mimic encounters, but no guarantees.

The point is,Caius cannot solve the quest the way things stand. Increasing MAT doesn't work, as he starts, but then 'runs out of steam.' I think the quest is just broken for Caius, because Busho can complete that quest with just 1 mind potion. The hero potions (if you're lucky enough to get the mimics to drop a few) can be used for the formidable chest and sword in the stone quests. Busho's party would probably carry a might potion and can get another in Fay to complete these quests without any help from the mimics.

I've been busy so far this week-end but I'll try to compile the info and see what's required for Caius to shine as much as Busho in "icy environment"

Putting together the info from various posts in this thread and my own experience, it seems that 2 MAT boosts don't work either. Therefore, logically, going on the bit I've just quoted, he needs MAT plus something else.

I have tried MAT plus MDF, and that didn't work.
Using the dialogue as a clue ("he runs out of steam") seems to suggest that what's needed is MAT plus ATK.

But... as we know only too well, there aren't enough ATK boosts for Caius as it is, because he doesn't come with one, and the guy in the pub doesn't give him one.

Trying to get a third from the mimic chests doesn't bear thinking about. If my conclusions are correct, this quest cannot be completed as things stand.

I have every boost (even got the MPP pack from VolcaNope merchant) but using a boost without "Quest Added" is like having a boat in the middle of a desert. For some reason, the quest is just not activating for me with this playthrough. In fact, I am getting no character response to the letter in the Inn. This quest was buggy during my first play, Caius was not able to do it during my second play, and now on my third play Busho is not able to activate the quest or make any comment on the letter writer's lack of skill.
