Scroll of Recipes

I loaded an earlier save and realized that this time through I missed the first scroll of recipes. Does anyone remember where it is?

are you in canacopra ? I think it's at a vendor - talk with all of them when you visit the city with Genevieve for the first time

On an older save before I got Genevieve (but where I didn't have the right lottery ticket) it looks like I already had the scroll. I'll go back through the ruins and see if I missed it, but if I can't find it, it looks like I just won't be able to make those specific items.

I have 4 scrolls, 2 that are marked recipe, 1 marked weapon, and 1 marked armor (which makes rings). I don't remember where I got them from, but while we're on the subject of recipe scrolls...

I've made a lot of, mostly, items, yet my skill level has never advanced from 0. I'm looking at the required ingredients for these 3 scrolls and I'm looking at my inventory. I have a whole bunch of ingredients that aren't being used in any of these recipes.

Does the skill level of Item Synthesis actually increase? Are there more advanced recipe scrolls that others have found? Will repeated use of the skill actually lead to better and improved items? And, finally, wishful thinking for sure, if more advanced items can somehow be made, will Genevieve actually save the day by making some kind of potion that allows you to get closer to the Crystal God?

I keep trying to increase the Item Synthesis level but it just stays stuck on 0. And it can't be used inside battle, so that's not the problem. Wouldn't you think it would increase just like the Bear Trap skill?

@Lady JJ it's stuck at zero in my game - so it's either a general bug or it's intented that way for everybody.
I also have a bunch of ingredients that are never used in recipes so far.

@Nimatoad you cannot get the first scroll without genevieve and it's not in the ruins .... that's just not possible.
You can only create items after you get her.

Are you sure they are 4? I'm in St. Town and have 5. Contact lenses, Items, Evolved items, Wands, Rings. The lenses one was in GeneWare hut, 2 i bought from vendors in the elven forest and one i found in a secret room ( either in the volcano or the ruins ). I don't remember the last one.
According to the crafting menu, there are 22 item recipes and i have 14 so far, so i assume i'll find/buy the last one later.
I crafted only a few items, but the skill is also at 0 and there's no blue bar progress like it happens with the other skills. I believe it's supposed to be this way.

It looks like I was mistaken. Now I have Genevieve and the scroll, but I don't know how or when I got it. I don't remember there being a message, but maybe I just missed it.

I have 5 categories of Recipes, too. Anyone know what the "Evolved Items" category is? That recipe list doesn't seem to allow you to craft items from it. I only have the Items, wands, and rings (armor) available to fabricate. I also haven't seen a change in this skill past it's beginning level.

Didn't you complete quest 28. It's one of the easiest/most straightforward ones.

I did, and you're right, it says the reward is Strawberry Fields. So I must have been there??? Well, I clearly didn't buy a recipe scroll. Another note on the to-do list. Thanks.

I think it should!
That said it'd only alter the MP cost, you wouldn't get better or easier recipes from it.

Or like Herbal Knowledge. Which prompts me to ask, did you Herbal Knowledge increase?

My synthesis skill has also never moved off zero, despite being used a lot of times.
Herbal Knowledge did increase.
