This month I will be revealing the following tops:

Top-25 Most Popular Games on Aldorlea (2012)
Top-50 Most Popular Games on Aldorlea (EVER)

There will also be awards distributed for the 3 most popular Aldorlea and non-Aldorlea games of the Year, plus the most popular game from a new developer. Please note these awards won't be decided by me but will reflect what you, the community, has loved the most. :)

Can you guess the top-3 of 2012 for both Aldorlea and non-Aldorlea games? :)

Top 3 is too hard to guess, but I'm sure that 2012's most popular game from Aldorlea will be The Book of Legends. Because ikt was the topic of the year in Aldorlea, everyone was talking about TBOL and how they loved the game. Also the reviewers loved the game, so if they loved, of course tha the Aldorlea loved too. :)

Now the non-Aldorlea title I would say that the first of the top 3 would be Twilight of the Gods, this game has been in the Top 5 two times and also filled with questions about the game in its topic. Which means, lots of people were interested. Now the second and third, second would be Skyborn... I played the game and it was one of the best... plus I've never seen someone say bad things about this game. Third would be Sweet Lily Dreams, it was years of development and players loved its story and atmosphere and also its beautiful graphics.

That's it, my guess.

Top 3 - not necessarily in this order:
The Book of Legends
LF3
Asguaard

Top-50 of all times? Now this will be interesting...
Can Asguaard be beaten?

As for the 2012 Top-25, I'll try this:

Aldorlea
1. TBOL
2. Moonchild
3. Opaline (I would be surprised if it hasn't came ahead of Asguaard or LF3...)

non-Aldorlea
1. Twilight of the Goods (This game seems to be a sure bet.)
2. Ashes of Immortality
3. Eternal Abbys

Great predictions Tomas (although just as great as D-S, ie wrong lol but then again it's hard to nail all 6 names)

And you raise interesting questions.

ehehe I had quite some fun compiling the data. There may or may not be surprises. You'll have to keep in mind it will be a chart just for this website/community, so games having successes elsewhere won't matter. With that in mind, Asguaard is sure a hefty contestant. :)

3. Opaline (I would be surprised if it hasn't came ahead of Asguaard or LF3...)

That's quite reasonable, but does reason also win? +::whistle

Interesting chart, I sure hope Twilight delivers the GOODS, it was a cool game and Sven is really passionate about his work lol That said, no Skyborn?

I don't have the "hard data" for better guesses, but if the "sales curve" for your games looks similar to what I saw for the big AAA games, then most of the sales happens right after the release. Since we are talking about Aldorlea site-only data, releasing a game elsewhere doesn't matter (otherwise it could certainly change a lot). So LF3 or Asguaard would basically need to sell something like ten times better than Opaline, which I don't find very probable...

That said, no Skyborn?

If numbers of posts in the forum threads indicate something, than not.

But we also has to consider how many times games like LF3, Asguaard and TBOL has been in the Top 5. Which means, they also has chances to be in the Top 3 as they were in almost all Top 5 of the year. And don't forget the Laxius Force discount that was on weeks ago, also something that should be considered.

That's true, but rankings still don't say much about the absolute numbers.
Let's take Sweet Lily Dreams as an example - it was released in December 2011, so it could only be once in Top 5, yet it still did well in 2011 charts...

But the rankins put in the Top 5 are of how much the game sold in the month, or I am wrong?

Yes, but we don't know the exact numbers. I mean, imagine a situation like this:

November:
Game A is in Top 5, sells 100 copies.

December:
Game A is in Top 5, sells 80 copies.
Game B is released, sells 1000 copies.

Now Game A scored twice in Top 5, but didn't even come close to Game B when it came to total numbers. Of course, these are some random numbers, but you see what I mean.
It's really hard without knowing the exact numbers, the only thing I'm sure about is that TBOL won easily...
