I think it's a bird (haven't got that far but I assume) that you fly on.

After finishing the main quest, you'll find yourself on Sunset Beach. On the South of the Beach is a blue phoenix who'll take you to Rillia, SankT Leona or Mt.Zulle, as many times as you wish to visit them. It'll also bring you back to Sunset Beach too.
