Equipement/Atlas Cave

I have been to Atlas Cave now when I go to see Kevin, he want take me back. He says it is a dangerous place and he want take me unless he sees that my equipment is good enough. Do I have to equipped a certain way?

You do have to be equipped a certain way. I kept playing around with the equipment until he would take me.

You need to have the axe from the pirate hideout. One you have that Batabog will join your party.
The hide out is in at the port check windows.
