Can't find Baretta???

I'm in the Xen Marshlands at the tomb and Baretta is not there. I know I'm in the right spot, but she's nowhere to be found. Is there something I have to do or someone I have to talk to first to make her show up? I wandered through the marshlands and went to the Xen tribe village already. Did I go too far before trying to find her? Help!

You shouldn't have entered the Xen tribe village. She vanishes when you go there.
Did you save in different slots?

Yeah, I'll have to go back to just after I met the first tribe and I spent a lot of time leveling up in the Marshlands. Grrrr... Thanks though. At least I know.

I know, it's annoying...
Indy's games have always this component: irreversibility.

Let me add to that:
Have multiple saves. You have 15 slots and you can always create backups.
