Chapter 2 Stuck in Tyrine sewers!!

I have got as far as the area where one saves the girl lost in the sewer, and saved her. Unable to get any further as the way forward is blocked by what looks like an area of water in the passage, which stops me going forward.

My party consists of Cocka, Sarah, Brussian, and Random of course.
What am I doing wrong please??
According to the walkthrough I should be able to go on and defeat a monster that used to be a man, and then find a switch. No monster and no switch. Am I misreading the direction to go? The area where the girl is located is a dead end. This is the main quest to clear the sewers, after having cleared the top part (Quest 25.)

If I remember correctly..there should be a squid on the top of a fountain. You should kill the squid in order to pass.

When you do that you should be able to get to that demon who used to be a man. Once you defeat him, a switch will appear where he was standing

Thanks for the response. My problem was actually following the directions in the walkthrough, as it said to go right after saving the girl. The squid on the fountain had already been done, exploring the top part of area.

Discovered that you actually need to go straight on to main corridor and go right when you get to the gate.
My problem was that I could not get past the bit of water to go towards the gate ahead, discovered that one needs to keep to to the bottom side of corridor to get past the water barrier.
