Ch 4 - Sandy's Party can't get to Baretta's

My party split up after cracking the computer in the dome. Sandy's party returned to Adretana, went to the Port Tavern to get the gold from the redheaded guy, successfully. When we went to Kolo Kolo Beach and clicked on the sign, nothing happened, although the walkthru said Sandy would run into the surf. We then went to go to Baretta's, but the transport said that this was not a good time. All members of Sandy's party have levels in the 30's. Is this the problem? I'm working on getting their levels up via the trainer back at the dome. Am I on the right track or is there something else going on?

The beach part with the sign is likely an artifact left over from an earlier version of the game. The walkthrough hasn't really been put to the paces with the latest release of the game, so a quirk or two gets found on occasion. Odds are ShadowBlade can get that part of the walkthrough patched up if this is the case.

For Baretta's shop, this may just be another case of things getting worked around in the latest release. I can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't work for you. Assuming you have access to her shop, and had visited her at least once before?

All I can suggest is to load an older save file, and check her shop just after entering the dome, but before you investigate the computer. Or maybe Indy moved around the timeframes for Baretta's shop updates to help players get a hold of her items easier?

1. I had been to Baretta's before and delivered the goods to her.

2. I checked Baretta's before going to the Dome and nothing in inventory had changed.

3. I then loaded a save file created just before the computer in the dome was cracked. I sent Random's orig party back to Baretta's and again, nothing in her inventories had changed.

4. According to the walkthru, Sandy's party is supposed to get "2x explosion acorn. She will also usually offer a baretta's evil box if you have the luck ring equipped when you purchase the acorns. This stock will disappear if you do not get it right now!". As only Random can wear the Luck Ring, I'm guessing that this shopping trip will have to occur later when Random is back in action. [This is just as well, because I need more $$ before browsing Baretta's shops again!)

I guess I'll keep working on increasing the levels of the party members. Sandy can't use her Talk skill until I get her to Level 53, and this is my last chance... I can get some money in the fights, too. [Sandy better have something really interesting to say after all this work!]

Ah, you're right. I looked into it and the walkthrough has the wrong order of events. The part about Baretta's shop was supposed to be at the very end of step #72, not in the middle of it.

So continue on in the game, and play out Sandy's lead of the party. Once it switches back to Random as your leader is when you absolutely must visit Baretta to get acorns before it switches over to the next shop rotation.

I think it'd basically go like this if you want to use it:

72.  Optionally, you can visit town at this point and find an event easily missed. If you go to the Port Tavern in Adretana Port, talk to the red haired warrior and he will give you [color=#FFBF00]607 gold[/color] to help you in your fight against the Order. When you're ready, head back to the town exit and continue down and then left. On this screen there are heaps of monsters waiting for you. Fight your way south through them. Tatxux will be a little to the south in the midst of them all. Continue on to the transports and travel to the south lands. Head south one and left to the area past Solwan’s shop. Go down one and you will be ambushed by members of the milice. They are quite easy to beat at this stage. Go down into the cave and out the south exit. Some minotaurs will attack you. Start walking across the bridge and you will walk into some sleeping cloud. Marion and Sandy fall asleep. Askhbar and Brussian stay awake. You will have to fight two crystal oaks and a harpy. Once defeated a bomb will go off and all party members will loose -9999HP. They kidnap Sandy. Brussian, although hurt, walks all the way back to Arvendel to warn Random. The scene cuts to the bad guys who are plotting the death of Sandy and Random by using Sandy as bait. The scene will then cut to King Julian and the team. A letter has been sent asking for Random, Sarah and Luciana to give themselves up and they will release Sandy. Random wants to give himself up, but there is a slight hitch of Luci not being there. Sarah has a plan. Head to the transports and go to Baretta's shop, as it has now updated its inventory to include [color=#FF0000]2x explosion acorn[/color]. She will also usually offer a [color=#40BFFF]baretta's evil box[/color] if you have the luck ring equipped when you purchase the acorns. This stock will disappear if you do not get it right now!


The part about Baretta's shop may actually go better as part of #73 though, since #72 is quite long and had a big event which could properly conclude it. (In fact, that was probably the original intention, allowing the walkthrough to preserve the ellipsis [Sarah has a plan…], and then segue into #73 with the warning about Baretta’s shop before you advance the plot any and get her selection rotated again.)
