Ransom? Some houses can't be burglarized in the first try, try to burglar all houses that can be burlged now and then try to burglar other houses. Or then you can wait to LF2 when you complete some quests to increase your burglar points.

If it helps any, burgling is mostly reliant upon Random's Resistance stat, or Wendala's Mind stat if you use her to burgle. Boosting the appropriate stat by optimizing their equipment and stacking relevant status effects goes a long way. This will allow you to burgle successfully with low leveled characters much more easily.

There are still one or two really tricky houses to burgle in chapter 4 though, but as D-Squall said, you can just wait till LF2. The walkthrough was generally wrote by power players for power players, but more casual players really don't need to stress over getting everything covered in the walkthrough, certainly not to beat the game.

Still can't open any houses. Random resistance is at 819 and he's equipped with the burglar's bar.

I guest I need to open some houses to complete some quests. +::sos

Burgling is entirely optional, like many things in Laxius Force. I don't remember any side quests that require burgling, and the main quest certainly doesn't require it. 819RS is a pretty respectable number for burgling though, so long as Random's level doesn't drag down his burgle ability too much. For reference, obsidian skin (Or steel skin as a lesser alternative) and heroism both increase RS. I don't know if that'll help you any more, or if you figured that out on your own already.

All said, you will level naturally with time, and get better equipment on top of it. Just hold off on burgling for now and don't stress over it. I really don't think Indy intended for most players to get everything in LF1, that's why he set the requirement so obscenely high while still allowing you to burgle in LF2 and beyond.

Demetrio is in Gian's Relics, behind the top-leftmost door in the Main Avenue, and it's not locked. You may be trying to burgle the house that is next door to Gian's Relics, but it's not required to reach Demetrio.
