Well I guess the plot progressively picks up in intensity so it's not abnormal. Chap4 is excellent anyway, imo.

But Chapter 1 is kinda hard if you don't do side quests. You would reach Pazaara at Level 15 tops. no good spells, no good weapons, no CC. And so is Chapter 5. The Caves are doable at Level 5 tops but for the ancient crevice you need around level 15 with all the mimics and ghosts. You wouldn't have much of a weapon to harm them, or spells.

And my most definite least fav is chap 2. Louis + Marion + Reeker Bulb... Bad Combination.

Chap 1 might be easy but Chap 5 was definitely not. Before you added the healing crystal, most monsters were tough and I had to die and I hate dying....

And the atmosphere is ghostly. But it's very annoying to heal Louis and Marion all the time. Glad that Wanderer's Guild sells Healing Potions cheap...

Just put them out of the party as soon as you can, and keep them dead when they are mandatory.
