have you reached the center of the earth itself or are you still in the caves?

I'm at the center of the earth itself and out of the caves. I tried to go back but up but it wouldnt let me as I was
falling and landing. I tried going out the way i went in but couldnt go up

You have to get the balloon. There is someone in one of the caves that gives you a quest and the balloon is the reward.
