Skill Question

Since I've been trying to make a list of who can purchase what skill, I am pretty sure by now that what gets offered seems to vary by:
Person selling
when in the game I ask for it
the level of the skill
maybe something else?
Often different sellers of the same skill at the same level, or at a different level, offer the skill to different players, or even if I go back to a seller whom I bought everything he was offering he would now be offering to a player he didn't offer it before. (It's even possible that I have been sold the same skill to the same person more than once, but that could be my bad memory.)
What is the truth here? Is it determined by the seller, or is there some stat that determines when a certain skill can be offered to a particular character. Or is it at some point in the game now that skill is available for some character. Of course all along some characters could never earn some skills, but this is beyond that.
Thanks.

They are different sellers but who can learn the skill never actually changes.

Well, I'm just about certain that the same skill gets offered by the same or different sellers, it doesn't matter which, to a particular character at different times, too. Since I've been taking notes about this. I am also pretty sure that when I go back to the same seller later often I get offered a skill to someone who it wasn't offered to the first time. I'll check more carefully as I go on, but I think that is the case.

Yes please do, so that I can also check on my side.

First, I have a question. Are some characters supposed to be able to develop a skill further than others? Like some can get to master, and some to guru for the same skill? Kindness was offered up to Master level to Grom, but not at Guru. Guru Perception was only offered to Luby even though Grom also had Master level. In addition both master Rune Finder and guru rune finder are shown on Luby's skill list at the same time.
Anyway, today I found several examples of problems with the skills. As far as I know there is only one place to learn Guru Botanist. I had Master Botany and I went there and Guru Botany was offered to Grom, so I bought it, and it sounded like the transaction went through (ka-ching! and a message). Then I decided to look at my actual skill levels for Grom a bit later, and I saw Botanist was (M), not (G). So I went back to Krazimir and found the Guru Botanist teacher again and he said: Grom is already a Master. Although it does say Guru Botanist there on the teacher's script when purchasing. If that's true there doesn't seem to be a place to learn Guru botanist.
I also noticed at the same time that the Guru Pathfinding that I went out of my way to buy today is still saying Master on that character's skill list. I also bought Master energy Burst for Glen and it still says Expert on his skill list. I think there are actually a lot more of these. So it seems to be that some teachers think I'm at a lower level than I am, and some teachers although it say one thing, like Master, are actually experts, and later I get told my character is still an expert.
I have more but it will take a while to go through my notes. Might it not be easier for you to take a look at the whole thing from your side since it looks like there are many more similar examples?
Unrelated, but possibly a bug, is that I also found 3 places where I opened a trunk (not one that was already opened) and I seemed to get nothing. Actually I don't know because I did not receive a message about receiving anything or what I received.
Thanks.

Yes!
Thanks for your observations, I'll go through the game and fix anything that needs to be.

could you possibly have an old version?
It seems all the cases you mentionned except the Guru botanist were fine on my side.

where I opened a trunk
what do you mean?

Hi, thanks for the response. About the chests, I mean:
There are quite a few chests especially in the Temple of the Savior where there are some already opened chests. They look open and nothing happens when you go up to them. Since Millennium had a lot of them too, I assume that's what you meant to do. So that is NOT what I'm talking about here. What I mean is: I walk up to a closed chest. I hear the click that it opens. Then nothing more happens. There appears to be nothing in the chest and there is no message. Either something happened but I don't get a message, or I don't get anything from the chest. Maybe it's another trick? Or maybe something is wrong. I looked in my notes. This happened in Glacial Cave, at the 1st chest just W of the entrance. (another is in Temple of the savior....I need to look further into where I saw them. But it was 3 times only (so far). I just hope I'm not missing something important, but I don't care if it's another Chlorefine Potion (for example)!
About the skills: Well, it's good news that some characters can earn higher levels than others because it takes care of some of my concerns! So thanks for that. For the other skill problems I (think I?) see, I will get back to you, I need to double-check. What is the latest version? I wasn't aware that there was a new one since I downloaded (I think it was Monday the 16th of November). Thanks. I always get nervous reporting this kind of thing because I'm afraid that I am wrong, no matter how much I'm sure when I make the report!

So thanks for being nice about it.

It indicates an empty chest.

Hmmm the committee of Chlorefine Potion supporters is gonna be really pissed off at you XD

When I started the game today I discovered that somehow the latest save didn't include my last few locations so I had to do them over. That might be why I found so many problems yesterday although I can't think how that happened. Anyway, I am going to visit everywhere all over again and see what every skill expert, master, and guru has to say (I first made a list of everyone's current skills). Keeping in mind that I am not starting from the beginning at this point. I found a few minor problems so far but nothing major to report, except that on Rayanne's Skill List I have definitely got both Telekynesis and Rune Finder listed twice, (M) and (G). Don't know if that affects gameplay yet. I know for sure that Guru Telekynesis is working 'cause I've been able to obtain every item using everything in addition to the Skill itself (TK Charm and some item whose name I forget). I've updated my list over on Titaness' Skill List thread to show what I've found so far. By the way, another question: do some characters start out with a skill level of Expert or higher for some skills? Thanks.

I've almost done my recheck so will get back to you shortly on that. Just a few problems, mostly minor.
Thanks about that info about Glen!

OK! I think I did a fairly thorough check, so I uploaded a file with what I found out. There are a few potential big problems but I can't tell for sure at this point in the game. But I hope not. Anyway, here's the link:

Hi!
Since I sent you that list I finally got to Kremdjir, where among others I found the Guru Axe dwarf. Remember I mentioned that when we went to the Ancient Lands in Hid. Loc. 56, where Ax-God, the Master Axe wielder said, that "Grom was already a master", although his stats said Expert? I think when I went to the Center of the Earth I bought Master there, but I can't be sure. Anyway, now that I've approached the Guru Axe wielder, he said "Grom needs to be master first". So I either bought master and it didn't register, or it won't let me buy it. Either way, I can't get Guru Axe, and I don't know if he even has Master, really.
That's it for now!
