Key to unlock the locked

Has anyone found the key to unlock all those enigmatic chests scattered around the countryside, or are they like my heart, permanently sealed.

Yes I got it this time through.

You need to buy it from the gnone shop who sell special items only at specific times, still not sure how many but so far I've had 4 items I think, and one was the magic key

it's only available for a certain period of time.

i was able to buy it from him(gnome in the forge) after going through scarlet river and talking to benoits father. but after going through the swamp he started selling something else. i dont know if it's random or always the same. if he always sells in the same order you'll need to buy it before getting karine to join you or it will be too late

Yes I think his items change after a quest is completed so it's woth checking before moving on to the next quest because eventually he will take a vacation..... guess to get ready for BOTM2

when you leave green grass fields and enter the world map go right, cross over the bridge, go past the guild of strength all the way to the mountains. it wont show up until you walk over the spot it's located on.

So I have the key but it won't let me unlock the chests. She just says that the chest is locked. When I go to my item list it won't let me use it. So how do they open.

I missed that completely and now the gnome is on vacation. Gotts start over. Started with hard mode so Super Easy mode her I go
