I would really like to see some kind of an egress spell in the next episode. I know we have walkthrough but if you are at the Sapphire Cave the only way to get back to the rest of the areas is to walk forever. It's great for leveling up but if you just want to check on something it gets old. Maybe just to certain strategics areas. Like one on the east side and one on the west side.

I agree. something to get quickly from a to be to c, or if I'm in the middle of, say, Sapphire cave, and need to get to Eastern Lands of Myst I don't have to completely retrace my steps, which becomes unbearingly tedious. eg, getting out of the swamp. I played a game where there was a compass that allowed the player to go back to certain specific points. That was really nifty, 'cos first of all you had to find it. Other games have ways of moving around expeditiously, by means of magic mirrors, eg....
I tend to have a low attention span, and get tremendously bored at having to repeat stuff over and over. ...And then kill monsters along the way when all I want to do is get back to whereever and test out my theory.

Anything to speed things up once the target is met is a good thing to me... but then I enjoy more doing quests and finding loot rather than killing monsters, which to me becomes exceeding
repetitious!

I agree with both comments. I know I haven't played this game that long but I have played other games that have monsters popping up often and it can get tedious to constantly fight them, especially after you have completed a quest or met a goal and all I want to do is collect my reward. In another game I played, there were these crystal things that I could activate so that I would not run into any monsters. They were scattered throughout the areas I was exploring so you had to search for these crystals and if you found one you could activate it and no more monsters for that area. This was a great feature. The constant monsters popping up is one reason I have stopped playing 3 Stars of Destiny. I can only play this in limited periods because the constant fighting gets annoying very quickly. Again, I understand the idea of fighting monsters and exploring but once I have what I need I just want to get out.

Egress would be useful to get out of Swamp or Sapphire Caves after you've been through them just looking for something. I generally decrease the random encounter rate but it stills takes a while to get out... Good for leveling up though!

What I would like is a way to skip the intro when you go back to play on a different level. I've done easy, normal and now onto hard. Waiting through the whole intro when you've already played the game was a little boring. Of course thats only because I'm soooo eager to get playing such a great game ;)

I, too, would like Egress, and shoes, or an amulet, or something, to clear out all the monsters. The beauty of this is, it is up to the players whether to use these or not, and when, where, how often. That way everyone is happy. People can choose where to level up, and would still have to slay the Main Monsters. Having a way out of the caves, tunnels, dungeons, etc. really helps.

I tend to lose interest after so long in those places once the quest is done. I'm going around in circles, and I don't enjoy that just to get out. Some people do, but many do not. But we still like to play the games. (I wish 3 Stars had these things.) :)

I really like that you can set your own encounter rate at each area. But I agree that an exit spell, like the one Random had in the swamps, would be a great thing. Right now I'm working on easy with the highest encounter rate to level everyone up.

On a totally different matter, I have mouse problems - sometimes I can see the magnifying glass to tell me there's something there to look at. Most times, not. Same with the shoes. Also, my mouse only has 2 buttons, there is no middle button (it's a scroll mouse). so I was lost forever in that swamp because I couldn't see where to jump to get out (I've got cateracts beginning in my eyes and things get blurry, especially when the colors are dark on dark). Have a little mercy on those of us refusing to get old!! Please.

Hugs,

Nightowl, I have the same problem. So I brightened my screen enough to be able to see a bit better. Maybe that would help you too! +::Dunno

Here is a save which will double the size of the mouse icons: http://www.mediafire.com/?guhxumdmemm

You can also make the text more clear.
Find the program folder for BOTM and open Millennium.ini. You should find this part:
Code: Select all
Text_Shadow=1
Shadow_Transparancy=100

Change that section to this:
Code: Select all
Text_Outline=1
Shadow_Transparancy=255

The text should now be much clearer.
It's not as pretty as before, but it's more important that you can read what is written. We have thought about you ^_^

Indinera,

Well, when I dream I dream Big! (No harm in that I hope?) It wasn't a complaint...just a dream. :)
I am having fun, and that is what counts. But I'd use any and all of it, I admit. +::biggrin

I am glad my hidden features pleases you :)

Here is a list of stuff you can play with in the millennium.ini if you have version 1.5
  • big_mouse - 1 for making the mouse icons appear bigger in game.
  • mouse - 0 for disabling mouse. (Dunno why you would want this, but it's here if anyway)
  • fullscreen - 0 for disabling automatic fullscreen. (You can use alt+enter at any time to enter/exit fullscreen mode)
  • local_saves - 1 for using the program folder for saves
  • shadow_transparancy - 0-255 where 0 is completely transparent and 255 completely opague. (For the shadow only)
  • text_shadow - 1 for drawing a shadow for the text
  • text_outline - 1 for drawing an outline of the text

Except for shadow_transparancy you can either set them to 0 or to 1. For big_mouse that would give the following two possibilities:
Code: Select all
big_mouse=1

Code: Select all
big_mouse=0

For the lines not present at install consider them set to 0.
The local_saves uses the Saves folder in program folder of the game.
Note that if you have installed it in Program Files in Vista or Windows 7 then the game probably don't have the necessary permissions and thus prevent you from saving games.
On the other hand if you have the game on a USB Stick or something similar then you can carry your saves with you by using that option.

text_shadow and text_outline can be on at the same time. The two shadows are simply drawn on top of each other.

I suggest taking a backup of the .ini file if you want to play around with it although it cannot go worse than you having to reinstall the game.

WOW! Now if I could walk all over like I can in some of the other games that I can open in RPG, then mapping would be easier..... but it wouldn't be as much fun exploring and figuring out where the next peice of the puzzle goes! +::biggrin

Thanks much, Zeriab. Your're the best! +::YAY
