Which mode are u playing? For normal mode levels around 33/32 and a bit lower for Hirado should be enough... Don't remember the equipment that well except for the weapons: Ulf's Scimitar on Benoit, the Riffle on Karine and Marine and Hirado with the laser canons. Check also the "Blue Genie in Ancient Temple" topic for attack tactics. Good luck!

What is the Riffle and where does it come from? I've played through twice and never came across it. :(

If my memory serves me right this weapon is hidden in one of the secret rooms in Ancient Temple - as all of Ancient Temple weapons you have to leave them behind once you have defeated the demon!

I was very heart broken leaving behind the ancient rifle, laser cannons and grand legacy.

I actually went back into the secret rooms hoping to get back such choice equipment but again heart broken because my party came out empty handed - damn!

I enjoyed that part of the game because I said to myself wow great equipment I am going to kick some tail but Marine's values stopped me in my tracks.

Actually, there is a way how to smuggle those powerful weapons from the Ancient Temple. The only trouble is you'll have to beat the demon without them. If you don't pick any of the weapons before killing the demon, returning back to the caves and triggering the dialogue about retrieving the ancient weapons, you may return to the temple to pick the weapons anytime later. Marine won't insist on leaving them there anymore (or in other words, the event which removes all the ancient weapons from your inventory is triggered only once - when you cross the temple gate directly after you kill the demon).

I wonder if it's a bug or if it's another of Indi's nasty tricks. But since the LP and LF games are full of similar things, I'd bet on the latter. :)

I got to keep the Grand Legacy. The only things I lost were the Ancient Rifle, Ancient Gun, and Laser Canons.

Wow you actually were able to beat Djinn without the equipment SbN?

What mode were you playing and did you keep using the equipment for the rest of the game?
What level were you characters at and did you promote your characters as well?
Just curious

I thought about not taking and using the equipment but I did anyways.
I also unequipped everything but it was gone after that.

Geez +::YAY

Update: I forgot a secret room in the temple the second time playing in hard mode and was able to get the ancient rifle. There must have been two ancient rifles because I had one equipped when fighting Djinn.

I was playing the hard mode, and my characters were in their late 30's when fighting Djinn (except Hirado who was in a lower level). All except Hirado were alredy promoted (Marine as Shiva, Benoit as Body Master, and Karine as Bounty Hunter), and Marine and Benoit were trained in the Strength Guild. Djinn is vulnerable to sleep condition (Hirado's White Orb spell can easily make him fall asleep), but what's more important, he can be stunned or paralyzed as well (Karine and Hirado have spells which inflict these conditions). He counters neither physical attacks, nor spells, so he's totally harmless, if he's stunned or paralyzed. His sidekicks can be easily stunned, so they're quite harmless as well.

The ancient weapons, especially the Ancient Rifle, are useful while fighting the Ant King who counters spells and who is physically resistant enough to practically nullify atacks with any weapon except Morning Star, Saint Sword and the ancient assault weapons.

I've found only one Ancient Rifle in the secret room, the only guns I found outside the secret rooms were Ancient Pistol and Laser Cannon. Maybe I've overlooked some areas of the Ancient Shrine.

Thanks for the info SbN

I made the mistake of not using the guild for Marine, Benoit and Karine before getting Harido.

With regard to the ancient rifle there is only one. I thought I had it but I did not. I only had three laser cannons, grand legacy and ancient pistol not the ancient rifle. I just forgot one of the four secret rooms.

Luckily I have save files to go back to.
