well, i've taken a look at the map and there is a very nice broad THIEVE'S DEN locator... but i can't seem to find the den. i've talked to martial in pinerock about there being a possibility of a thieves den. and i'm driving myself crazy trying to find it. do i need to look later? [right now, i'm heading to festina with benoit] or should it be all access, all the time?

You'll have to wait until you get the 'thieves den map' a bit later. Then it will show up.

oh cool. :P so does this magical event happen before i get the alchemist's map or do i have to defeat a certain number of animal kings or what? :p

which would be the monastery and then the old loch map? in sapphire caves? because i had to restart my first game after i collected hirado and then realized that i had no idea of how to break through the transparent dee-bobs. and then hirado wouldn't leave the valley because he was all "noble" and stuff?

You can go to the den before you get Hirado. Just fight some thieves on the lower part of Rocky Path until they drop the map and then go there before heading to the dino valley and into Sapphire Caves to get Hirado.

ETA : and i have no problems with this thread being closed, if anyone feels the urge.

How long does it take to get map. I have tried for hours now and can't get them to drop map.
Do I have to do someting other than being told about the thieves den? Do I have had to have killed so many animal kings?
I have not gone to get hirado yet.

It's really just a random drop... keep fighting thieves!

This has to be the most boring thing I have ever done in my life. Random drop is one thing, but it ruins all the pleasure in the game waiting for the thieves to drop the map. I have gone back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, for no other reason, the entire area where the thieves are located on the rocky path, and I am so sick of the dull greyness of it. Do you think you could please fix this idiotic feature ... I thought the idea was to ENJOY the game, not to be driven crazy by it. Hours later ...

I think it's not a problem to get it...I played through the game twice.First,it dropped for me for the first time I fought with thieves... Second time it still only took me 10 minutes max to get it(though I'm not sure if difficulty affects random drop frequencies or not...)

I've raised its frequency of appearance.
It's not really idiotic, as it's meant to be a bonus, but I understand collector-type of players wanting it at all cost.
