For now I've played until Scarlet River in Normal Mode. It's so hard to survive. There's no weapon shop for now and I don't have enough gold to buy enough HP MP stuff! I've seen speed and strenghth guild. I fear I should restart the game for easy mode.

You can sell stuff at the Item Shop in Green Grass. He gives you more money than anyone else. The dragonfly wings and Raw Honey that are random drops. You can also buy healing items at that shop.

are you using jeanne?

mm I'll train at the Huge Fields selling at Green Grass (sad that I selled some at Pinerock).
I have a savefile just after picking the lost purse...hope I got stuff to sell.
Yes I'm using Jeanne , in fact I shall rather buy Mp than HP.. cos for now I have enough health but few MP to attack, Benoit has no attack, hopefully Marine hurts quite.

Jeanne kills fast and you can use various methods to replenish Marine's MP (like a sleep at the inn ^^)

Surviving through Scarlet River and even the Swamp is easier if you have the Thick Leather Coat as a reward from James for killing the Chantefleur Ghost and the Snake Suit from completing quest 10. Also the canopy bracelet recovers 3HP per turn so it might still be useful to equip it on one of your characters!

Yup with all 3 you are pretty much invincible at this part of the game lol

I tried killing the ghost but failed. The snake suit I must buy the snake glove first. I've gone to Rocky Pass, farther than the mills, but then I don't have enough stuff, so I reloaded a previous load, hoping to go back to buy more stuff. Grenn orb very useful, those eagles!!

That is quite good and def enough to buy many MP items ^^

Regarding the Chantefleur ghost - let Jeanne do all the work while you defend with Marine! It might take a while but it shouldn't be too hard!

additionally, jeanne may heal marine, if needed

I've killed the ghost but I already give back the purse one + quest done though,well I've bought 2more mountaineer canes(in case Karine? the rebel fear vertigo)
