I did enjoy the final battles, though I would caution players to not engage in the finale unless you have at least 45 minutes of uninterrupted time to spare. The game was definitely a blast. I have a couple of observations-
I never retreated from a dungeon, so I don't know why the Left Dungeon registers at -1 and not 0. I think whatever caused that -1 glitch also affected Cowardice Points. Whatever boss I missed must have been one of the optional ones. I might try to restore from my dozens of saved games and try to figure out which one I missed.
Final thought, and this is a biggee...
The guide says (refering to this last section)
There is a lot to do here and you might end up being blocked if you do not follow carefully our step-by-step guide. So you know what to do! and that is exactly what happened to me. I couldn't finish the game and had to go back to a previous save. Here's what happened.
I never saw the hourglass until after I had entered the Maze of the Damned and obtained the rusty key. I went down to the room with the 3 pentagrams, fought the battle at the boiling pot and interacted with the angel holding the black orb. The black orb turned to a spiked rock but nothing else seemed to happen. Then I went back up to the green forest maze and discovered the hourglass. I checked the hourglass and found the 8th relic, but nothing else happened. According to the guide, I was supposed to travel up through the hourglass, but I couldn't. It was blocking me. I spent about an hour reexploring to find what I had missed. Nothing. I reread the directions and that's when it dawned on me I was supposed to find the hourglass before going down to the Maze of the Damned. So I restored to a game before the bubbling pot/angel with black orb encounter, went back up, found the hourglass, got the relic, still couldn't pass beyond the hourglass, returned to the room with the 3 pentagrams and black orb angel. This time, when I interacted with the angel, there was a cutscene where the hourglass turned about 45 degrees. I knew that cutscene hadn't happened before. I returned to the hourglass and was then able to pass through to get to the final battles on the other side. This is definitely a game breaking bug as not using the exact order given by the guide doesn't prevent you from getting a prize (in this case, the 8th relic) but actually prevents you from finishing the game. So, in my opinion, this bug (and it's the only bug I came across in the game, well, except for that -1 score) should be fixed. Just my two cents.
Having said that, this game was definitely one of the most fun I've played in at least a year and I would so recommend it. Looking forward to hearing final battle strategies. How did you equip your players? Who did you think your strongest player was? (for me, Tesla. I couldn't have stayed alive in those final battles without her). Which was the worst enemy you faced? (I thought those trees, canos?, were tough, but that lion fish was the absolute worst. Thank goodness that one wasn't repeated in multiples). What would you do differently on a second playthrough? (I'd definitely concentrate more on leveling Pyro earlier ).
The end scenes certainly seemed to suggest a sequel was coming, or maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part. I'm all in for a sequel! Congratulations to Indinera and Lumen on this wonderful game.
