I have tried every variation to kill this multi-colored beast, but to no avail. Any ideas as to what I need to do?

He's hard. I beat him when all my party were around level 30, before that it was impossible. If you are level 30 plus, then try the following: - Round 1 - Use Peeboos might and Clochette's Energy Boost. Make sure Erin has Nun-Cha-Ku equippped to get 2 hits and use Athena's particle blast (by far the biggest damage). But most of all make sure your energysers are in the right place. Erin your biggest strength energyser, then Peeboo next biggest strength energyser. Athena your biggest spirit energyser and Clochette your biggest resistance energyser. Then go into battle and hope. Got defeated twice before I eventually won, but I was quite battered. On the other hand you might want to take the previous posts advice and avoid him as apart from 10000 xp you dont get anything for beating him. Not sure whether you have to beat the dreamlords to complete the game.

You would miss out on Benoit

What use is Benoit? I can only get him to say 'I made this place' and I cant use heapdhones on him.

You can get the sword if you use the hourglass like John Austin said! Works just fine!
