Is it available or every mode?
I have some suspicions or where it could be or what it might involve but don't want to spend hours searching if it isn't available on Ataraxia (easiest).
If it is available on every mode does it involve
a. the room of confusion or lone in vampire mansion?
b. a locked door that requires lots of key testing
can't wait to find it, if other people are looking we can exchange strategies here

It can be found in Nightmare Mode, Zeriab has found but I don't want him to tell, is funnier to discover yourself.

Correction - it is a reward, meaning you have to play Nightmare mode to the end, probably without touching Pinkie, in order to get access to Hell World! After that I assume you can access it in any Mode!

There is one drastic rule to follow to reach Hell World. And it's not the one involving Pinkie (although that one is necessary too).

The only place I can think the hell word is, is that place in the vampire dream where there's a door with a noise of a monster inside.

Well, Indy said that.

Now I've got a question...
I just got the message, "Hell World unlocked." I would like to play the Hell World as part of an Original Nightmare, rather than with the bonus and character I unlocked at the same time. Is that possible?

In fact.... Nope. You will have the item reward + character.

You can choose not to use the reward & character. ^^

Thanks!
Since the Awards screens emphasize the difference between Original Dreams and Other Dreams, I thought there might be a way. I thought I did a pretty decent job conserving resources in my last Original Nightmare run, and had plenty left over, even after wiping out all the dreamlords. It would be fun to test if those remaining resources were sufficient to make it all the way through Hell World.
Also, it would be interesting if the Awards screen could somehow show the unused resources for each character at game completion. Maybe as potential HP and SP? It would probably require a lot of extra programming, though.

Alright, so I'm just about to the end of Nightmare mode (Original Nightmare) to be precise. So according to this thread, I have to finish my play through, and then on a playthrough AFTER that, I'll have access to the Gates of Hell? (On any mode, once unlocked?) I'm just a bit confused.

Yes. It will all become clear once you actually get to the end. The game will tell you what to do. You'll have to go directly into the next playthrough without shutting down the game. You will be able to choose the mode.
I strongly suggest saving just before talking to Terry at the end of your current playthrough.
