That pesky mirror!

There is another solution to getting the mirror.

Let's just say you need to make Marine angry and keep talking to her until Isabelle breaks the mirror.

To do that you need an item found in Bogobaka to give to Marine

I did the onion soup and having Benoit equipped with the pepper box but it did not work.

Only until I used the item on Marine( it only works on her)that I was able to get the cracked mirror.

I hope the second installment will have more quests like that because I was racking my brain trying to solve it and I did not realize I had the specific item all the time.

Now if I can only find the 24th secret room and find Bokden which I think is even trickier in my opinion.

Cheers

Bodkin was in the fighter guild first
Then on the rocky path. I think the part where you find the white fire before you had Hirado with you. I could be wrong about this one but it was one of the paths that did not go out to anywhere.

Then in the part of the forest where the cave is with the Feline Kings. Upper right corner I think.

From here on in it is fuzzy
I think he was in the Green Grass Hut next. The one where you can heal right before you go to the world map.

Then in the Sapphire Cave, one of the places down a set of stair but not really sure.

The two above may be reversed but I don't think so.

Then in Marine's hometown.

I don't the last secret room either.
There may be a timeline on Bodkin. If you didn't find him on the rocky path before you entered Karine's village etc etc. I don't know. Indy will have to tell you.

No timeline for Bokden - it was there originally, but got removed. :) +::music

(see the topic about games becoming easy lol)

OK, so you are driving me crazy... I had the cracked pepper idea, altho' I'm sure others had it too, just had not documented it. then, someone came up with onion soup(!?)... then tried getting Marine angry but not sure I got that... so I've tried to follow all clues/suggestions and have come to what appears to be a screaming halt. Isabelle appears to be no longer talking to me, all I now get is a long line of .............. when I approach her. Incidently, a question on how the game works.

I'm running around picking up tons of stuff, and if I go into Item list to use anything, most of the time the items are greyed out and not useable. on what is the usability dependent? the choice of equipment? the level of character, skills?

and as to what one gets in Bobolobowhatsits, all I remember are Swamp Leafs, and can't use those if health is good for everyone.

This quest is just a tad too byzantine for this simple soul. I like puzzles, but I also like to be able to be able to SOLVE them eventually, and I'm to the point of quitting on this one. +::surrender

Make sure you don't have any equipment on when you use the item or it may not work. I had something equipped that kept her from getting angry.

It's not another, it's the same one... I never said I managed it with pepper box and onion soup, just that those items gave me the idea to what to try next!

FINALLY!!!!!! IGOTIT!!!!! +::Dance +::clap +::YAY +::biggrin

The onion soup and pepper are red herrings so to speak.. +::lol

What finally gave it to me was the hint about the swamp, and I thought I already had all the items from there, but must have backed up to a prior save point at some time, 'cos didn't have the necessary thingy in my item list. Actually, this quest is very straightforward. I think all the hints, hints, hints were leading me up the proverbial gum tree, they were all at bit too obtruse for this simple soul.

I shall keep it simple from here on in.

But wasn't it much more rewarding figuring it out by yourself?

What I enjoyed about this quest is that no one including me mentioned the name of the item needed to fulfill the mirror quest even though I gave the area where to find it.

It is better for gamers like me try to solve quests without revealing the complete answer but create a ruse or what am I supposed to do next mentality which adds to the overall fun factor in this type of 2D style RPG which are my favorite type of games.

I have played many 2D style RPG games in the last 15 + years and this one is well designed, great play and of course needs to played again to find all the treasures it offers.

Also what separates a mediocre 2D style RPG from a great 2D RPG is that games should be non linear and allow the gamer to explore and wander and sometimes get lost and confused as to what to do next which I hope happens with the games I play.

I hope the next installment will add to a great fun of exploration and tough quests.

Cheers
