Silver Cave

I may have gotten ahead of myself and am now stuck. I went through silver cave, Lucky is now stone, made my way out without killing the spider. I have the balloon and am trying to go back through silver cave to get lucky and kill the spider. Unfortunately I can go in the entrance of the cave but no further. What do I need to do?

Finish the Center of the World. You will rescue Luby later in the game.
