Here is another excerpt from my book.... Memory loss comes in all sizes and
shapes and we develop helpful ways of dealing with it. By far, the most popular
is list-making. But, since we feel a sense of relief when it's on the list of things to do,
months could pass before you actually accomplish the task. You justify this to yourself
by saying...It's on my list of things to do! One must be particularly careful when working
from a list of chores. You may begin cleaning in one area, and decide to transport some
junk to another equally inappropriate place. There, you spy an object that would really
work better in a different room. So, THERE you go. Then when you get there, you feel
compelled to do a bit of straightening up there. One could flit back and forth from
location to location without accomplishing anything! Well, just put it on a new list
of things to do! It is also common to misplace this lifesaving list. Perhaps we should make
a list of places we may have put the list of things to do. You might make a new list, but
add or delete some particular entry. Then of course you locate the other list. Sometimes
you come upon several diffent lists you made of places to hunt for lists of things to do, and then
aren't quite sure what you are supposed to do!! The same principle applies to other lost
items, with keys being the winner in this category. Before you search francically for them,
you may want to make a list of places you have already looked for them!
