Questions about equipment

I've still not gone to the Rillian outpost to start the last stretch. I've been levelling my characters and some are still low but I've had enough. There are still 10 I can't get through the arena. The guide is great but I've already given out the book so I can't get the right one to the suggested character. Unless, of course, there are a stash of books hidden in Adretana. Getting to Linda and having the character miss every hit just blows my mind. Enough already. Now I'm looking at equipment. I have several questions so I hope you don't mind.
1. Can the Mechu Nachlyte be worn without being underwater i.e. all the time? It increases stats for may characters a lot.
2. Has anyone used the Cashra'Him ring that inflicts madness or the Martyr's Helm that inflicts bleeding? Are they worth using on the weaker characters because they raise stats. I ask because I hate the effects. The same reason I don't use the orb of chaos. I like to be in control. But if you have any other ideas.
3. Can brain dazzler be worn in the final fights?
4. Effects: translucent? They still get killed in the arena so what does it do? There are others but I'll leave them for another night.

All these questions seem obsolete now. I sorted my groups and they've all been successful first time round. How they will be if there is another round, I've no idea. But I'm happy so far.

Now, at the airport. And onward.
