must i complete all quests in chapter 2 (Tyrine) to go on to chapter 3? for me, that would mean starting over because some quests cannot be done without Louis in the party and -- though i don't remember the exact sequence of events -- Louis left the party shortly after completing his mission with us (and before we tried to tackle the giant squid, for instance).
the reason i ask is because when i went to leave at the top of soulwind crest, we didn't go on to chapter 3, so i suppose it's back down the mountain, eh? don't mind going back and completing quests, if i can do them i will because i really like this game, but then again i'm not a diehard completist either, and some of these quests i believe are not attainable since Louis has left the party, Wendala doesn't have undead language, etc.
please tell me i don't have to start over -- i have no saves from anywhere outside Tyrine. ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, if you leave chapter 2 without having completed all quests you can't go back. It looks like it's your first time playing the game right? So don't worry in completing all quests

About the Soulwind crest, you should only go there when Marion joins your party, and it's Marion who haves the Undead talking not Wendala.

thanks for the response DSquall. i know i can't return to a chapter once i've moved on to the next chapter (found that out between chapters 1 & 2), but i'm wondering what it takes to move to chapter 3. actually, you answered that when you said i'd need Marian in the party, but after completing "most" quests in chapter 2, no Marian in sight. don't tell me where i get her, i'll try to figure it out (i certainly hope it's in the Tyrine chapter). guess i'll go down the mountain, level up a bit and get more skills.
BUT -- i know i can't do the giant squid quest without Louis -- can i get him back in the party? if not, can i go to chapter 3 without completing that quest? i guess my question is: will i be able to go to chapter 3 without Louis to help me complete quests -- he left the party pretty much as soon as we came back into Tyrine after cleaning out the Saaris fort.

just got marian down on the coast! since she speaks the undead, think i can do several quests now -- haunted house in Tyrine, gravestones in Shandera forest, etc. leveled up quite a bit, got some new skills, now i'm going back to work on quests and hope i can leave eventually without Louis-related quests, thanks as always for your help, DSquall.

eight hours later... (as they say on SpongeBob) back in the saddle!

Enjoy the Haunted House house quest, it's the maddest quest of this chapter, yet fun.

DSquall: finished Haunted House quest on my lunch break --yikes! kid you not, winning battle took a full half hour! great rejoicing when the last ghost fell. cannot overstate the importance of buying items from Rebecca of the Guild -- fire, thunder, and ice powders have saved me much magicka points, work beautifully on the imps on the coast, and they were the only reason i finally won the Haunted House battle. this is another excellent game from Aldorlea -- Indinera makes far and away the best rpg's i've ever come across. [btw, yes, this is my first time playing through LF -- i'm a late bloomer.]

You're right, Indy is my favourite Indie develper. ^^
You know that Laxius Force, only one Laxius Force is bigger than a lot of console RPGs out there? That's very impressive.

You will love Laxius Force, it has lots of characters to join your party and the cutscenes are amazing, and I just want to say that are very strong scenes in this game, nothing related to obscene scens but yes, death scenes. lol

You will enjoy this game the most, and when you finish you will imediatly want to play Laxius Force 2. +::biggrin

I do think the Laxius Force games go crescendo in term of intensity
