My way of doing this was:
Go up the left hand staircase from the entrance and get the loot etc. It's a dead end. Return.
Now go up the right hand staircase. Keep going to the very top. In the big room in the middle is a staircase going down into Lord Fallmont's bedroom. The box is in the study to the side of it. You can't open it without a key.

Go down the stairs to the left of the fireplace. Fight Lord Fallmont, get 2 keys as a drop. The small key opens the chest, the large key opens the door down in the kitchen cellar.

I'm now replaying with Acrobat and Guardian, and the strategies are very different, making a replay definitely worth while.

At the moment I don't know which is going to be my preferred combination, they both are well balanced and interesting. I like Acrobat's ability to use items before his ordinary turn and I think that it's going to be possible to build him as a formidable fighter - especially after his upgrade after the Eastern Hills!

Any thoughts about the 'non-canonical' pairings, i.e. Bard + Guardian and Acrobat + Warrior?

A shame. I like to keep all my games in one library, including all the RPG Maker games. I pretty much have everything Aldorlea published on Steam.

There are other switches. Just keep on exploring and flip them. One will create a path to the one you mentioned.

I have switched on 3 other switches - are there any more and where - I have gotten all the hidden chests and found the secret room - been through one purple gate -thanks

If the one you are referring to is at the very bottom of map one, or at the bottom of map 3, you get to both of those from map 4.

Kes - I have those already - all 3 switches that I have found say that they are on - another 1 switch is the one I cannot get to there is no path to it - can I send you my file please to see what I am doing wrong - thanks

Just double checking - on map 4, you interact with the wall, go to the north east and use that path to reach the switch at the bottom of map 1. You return to map 4, and then make your way to the north west corner to go up a new path to the final switch which is at the bottom of map 3. Is that what you have done? At which point do you get stuck?
