Sorry, can't open the game. It has a WinZip opener, which I have to buy in order to get it done.

Vald if you mean the DEMO it is currently in a RAR format. We will be updating it shortly for a self installer EXE format. You can also download a trial version of WinRAR or WinZIP to extract the files as well.

We will have an self installer for the DEMO version shortly.

Like the game, not crazy about using zip files...but 7Zip opened it fine. I have to say I really dislike the sound on the text as it's coming up. It's annoying but after 1/2 hr into demo my mind finally blocked it out. It probably wouldn't be annoying if the volume of the type was fainter and more in the background than equal in volume to bgm. I love the battle style even with holding down escape. I'm thinking that I'll wait to buy after a regular exe install is done.

Was searching for goodies along walls, etc. but only found chests. My bad...thought wooden sign meant hidden goodies. All in all love the Zelda-esque style! That palace area was a blast with invisible enemies and got completely lost after the stairs which I actually enjoyed since It wasn't longer than 5 minutes. Congrats on The Shower Kingdom! +::Thumbup

Thanks for the reply, Ultimacj. I can't download the trial versions because they have long ago expired when I did use them. Will wait for the .exe file.

I just tried to download the demo today to check it out, it says it is a .exe now. Just thought you may like to know.

Edit: 783 MB for the demo .exe though. Anyway to parse that down some?

Thanks muchly, bgillisp, for the info. I have been waiting to hear from the developer...
Thanks again, I have now been able to install the game. +::Thumbup

ETA: Sorry, but this game is too slow and basic for me. I dislike battles which don't allow me to fight right away but where I have to wait for the bar to fill up first. Absolutely no fun at all for me.
Also, didn't like that each time I went into a house, I didn't have any control over my character, but he just charged in, spoke to the person inside, and then charged out again. Maybe it will be different later in the game, but it already put me off the game when this happened in the beginning. Also, it takes a while before my character moves again after I saved.
All in all I find it a bit too heavy-handed. So this is a no-buy for me.

I apologize for not being to reply sooner the forums were acting up and I was unable to post anything.

The Shower Kingdom demo is now a self installer EXE. If there are issues, please let me know. As for the file size, I will see if I can dumb it down, but the way the compiler works for the RPG Maker Engine, I may not be able to.

As you level up, the ATB bar will fill up faster vs the enemies. As the game's tutorial suggested, higher the level, the less charge the ATB to grow (similar to games such as the FF Series). The saving feature with the 'wait' is similar format shout out to the Dragon Quest series. Similar to entering houses, there is nothing to explore the house and it is an auto event. I adapted this idea from a older school rpg game based from The Turbo Graphic 16 system.

I appericate you giving the game a try and hoped you enjoyed it.

I had the same issue with the forums too, it seemed to be a Eastern US thing when I had Indy check it out, as the server in Virgina couldn't find the forums. Maybe related to the windstorms we had here.

I'll check out the game soon myself, just need to wait for a weekend to have time to play it.

As for file size, you might be able to remove music not needed in the demo. That would help some with that, at least for the demo version.

Everything was stripped down that wasn't required for the demo to play as well as the music, which is in OGG format that does not consume much space to begin with. Base assets are big to begin with it in the new engine, hence the compile size. I'll relook into again and see if anything extra was left in that isn't required. If an update gets applied, I'll post it here after updating. Thanks!

I tried to like this game, but I'm afraid I failed in the attempt.

Could I suggest that you get someone to proof read this. Your opening section, giving all the background lore, is full of grammatical errors, as I suspected it might be when I read the extract from it describing the game in the opening post. My guess is that English is not your native language, and it is very rare for someone to be sufficient fluent in their second language not to need someone to check it. Those grammatical errors continue afterwards, and I couldn't bear the thought of having to disentangle the dialogues etc each time.

You have an incredibly loud sound effect to go with the display of each word in dialogues. (As an aside, I think it's likely that this is one contributor to your extraordinarly large download size.) It is so loud that it nearly drowns out your background music, and there is no option for the player to turn it off. While others may not mind, I found it irritating, and not something that I could block out.

I am used to ATB, so the slow fill up of the bar didn't bother me. What did bother me about the battles was the use of the default RTP music, which, together with the default sound effects for cursor, cancel etc., gives the impression that this is one side of the game which could do with some tender love on your part. I get that as a new developer you will be working with a tight budgert, but there are loads of free sound effects and music tracks which you could use.

However, what was the deal breaker for me was the fact that I'm expected to trail all the way back to the King in order to save. Just simply no. Apart from being indescribably boring to have to hoof it over the same ground again and again, there are times when I have to stop and don't have, or don't want to spend, some minutes walking back so that I don't lose my progress.

I did think very hard about whether to post or not, but decided to do so because unless someone tells you these things, how are you going to know?

The Shower Kingdom has updated to 1.01. It's been brought to my attention there were some grammar errors that were not caught and this has been addressed and patched. For those who have already purchased the game, you can download this new patch on Aldorlea. If you have problems downloading the patch, please contact me. You can use your current save file with the new patch as well. Copy the save file into the same location and the game should see it.

The DEMO has also been addressed with this as well. I've fixed the compiler and file size is now about 400MB rather than 800MB.

This has been addressed and patch. I've also contacted Aldorlea to update the synopsis section of the main page to *match* the newly updated version. The game was beta tested, but these items were not reported. Thank for you bringing this to my attention.

This idea was designed to cater old school games that used a sound effect as text. As for file size, this has been addressed as the games program calls up the sound effect, which is small in size, and it is not a multiple file. For some unknown reason, the compiler complied to a HUGE size and I have no idea why. This has been addressed and fixed for the demo. There is an option to turn down sound effects if it happens to be too loud under "Options" of the game menu.

TSK is to designed an old school saving style system, which may not accommodate everyone and I understand that. Palaces of the game have save points inside them should you reach them as well as save points near them. The King is not the only person you can save the game to. Keep a look out for blue and yellow crystals as they will save your game as well (there are least four in the first world). I appreciate you trying the game out Littlebro! Thank you for your input.
