question ...

I have the Determination Orb, how does Krantz learn Power Shove. I see no way to use the orb? I can't afford the guide book, or I would get it. Thank you.

Here goes again - in the abandoned cave with the buttons - what do you mean in the guide where there is a - next to the number?

When you find an Orb, it will tell you if a character has learned a skill and it gives a brief description of what that skill will do. Krantz will have automatically learned Power Shove as soon as you found the Orb, which means you will be able to move the cross.

The -'s are just to help break up the string of numbers, so there aren't just a whole bunch of numbers in a row. It just makes it easier to keep track of where you are in the sequence of numbers. It doesn't mean anything specific.

Congrats on solving the Abandoned Cave puzzle without the guide. That one is one of the harder optional puzzles.

MP items are limited, but there are a lot of Sparkling Waters in the game if you search. I don't list them in the guide because it would make it too cluttered. However, if you want, you can use the Skill Trees to get the skill Tantra. This uses 5 TP to heal a character 15 MP. And here's a tip with that: If you have characters you don't use, you can get this skill on them. All characters get 5 TP per fight even if they aren't involved in combat.

Spoiler: show
You need a skill called Boulder to move the rocks. This Boulder skill is another skill that comes from Orb abilities. If you're far enough in the game, you can head to the town of Crescho where you will be able to get enough Liberator Orbs to learn this skill. If not, you have to wait.

Just a reminder that Tilde-e gives hints for a bunch of stuff. Her hints can be rather cryptic, but she should help out. However, if you haven't finished the Prison yet, her hint will be towards that instead of the cave and Crescho.

I hope this helps and I hope you're enjoying the game so far :)

She's in Hovia by one of the market stands. She gives you hints about what to do next.

So I do have the guide, but still stuck. I am in the prison boardroom. I rang the bell once but got caught and I have now returned to the boardroom. There is a guard here and it's not easy getting to the pull rope again, but even when I do, I still can't get past the other 2 sets of guards.I think I'm supposed to be working my way down to exit 4. There are guards in the lower hallway blocking my access to exit 4. It looks like I might be able to get to exit 4 from the larger room above, but the guards there don't pivot and I'm in their line of sight as well. Have I placed myself in a 'no win' situation because I didn't make it to the stairs the first time? Or am I misreading the guide and exit 4 is not my destination?
I even hotfooted it back to Holv and put the game on easy mode, but apparently the guards don't get that memo. :)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think there might be some confusion as to which map's #4 the guide is referring to, so I'll try to clear up the confusion:
Once you ring the bell in the Boardroom, even if you get caught, you don't have to ring it again. A lot of the guards (across the whole prison) will leave their previous posts, and they don't go back.

Once you ring the bell, it doesn't matter if you get caught. You want to go back to the Prison Entrance map (Map #21 <-- I forgot to mark the map number in the part that explains the order of events, so maybe that was the issue. I have changed it now). From Map 21, you want to go to #1 (on map 21) to map #25 (Prison Center). The #4 referred to is #4 on this map, Map #25. Basically, ringing the bell opened up this path so you can go upstairs through this area now. Getting caught doesn't undo any of the progress you've made so far in the Prison.

You can change difficulty settings at any of the Priests. The Innkeeper in Hovia is also the Priest. Easy Mode changes the difficulty of battle only (and the encounter rate).

For some general help, if you're getting caught by guards no matter what you do, it's usually because you're not supposed to go that way.

I hope you're enjoying the game despite this hangup :)

EDIT: I added in some extra help from Krantz if you ring the bell a second time. He'll tell you that a lot of the guards have probably left their posts. I hope this will help out anyone else confused by this part of the game as well.

Anyway, I hope that helps :)
