Thank you for your help Lady JJ.

I'm still at a loss though ...
I've tried first putting in the Guide solution. The door remains sealed.
After that I put in the alternate solution which caused a red chest to appear. The door remains sealed.
Then I put in the Guide solution again and the door is still sealed.

So I tried it the other way round: first the alternate solution. Chest appears, door sealed.
Then the Guide solution. Door still sealed.

I could only assume that this was because I didn't have all the slabs, but that's a Catch 22 situation isn't it? +::surrender

Hey, I have a couple suggestions that I think should help:

1. The stone slab will be there even when you can enter, so once you got the unlock core panel puzzle done, you should try opening it again.

2. Image
The 2 red circles here unlock at the same time. The one on the right was a door blocking the way before I finished the unlock core puzzle. If that door is gone on your game, the sealed door should be open now.

3. The puzzle solution might be put in wrong. It should make a beep when it's done right. The top 2 corners of the puzzle solution look fairly similar, so maybe they're backwards?

I checked the game files and the doors in the 2 red circles should be unlocked by the same event. If you still have issues, I can check your save file to make sure nothing has gone wrong, but I think it should be okay.

I hope one of these solutions helps :)

Hi Matt, I'm having exactly the same problem as lizwiz. I put the alternate pattern in first and got the chest but neither door 9 or the wooden door (12) will open, so I tried again with the original floor slab pattern but still no response from the doors. They are shut solid!

Would it be possible to get a save file from you or Lizwiz? I tried doing the alternate solution first and then doing the one required to move forward and it worked for me. I looked at the code a bunch and can't see what could've gone wrong. I tried messing around with the panels a lot and seeing if it would cause an issue, but it always seems to open the doors for me when I do the proper solution. But if there is an issue, I want to fix it.
Save files are: User/AppData/Roaming/Horizon Odyssey and you have to show hidden files and folders to see the Appdata folder. Email: matthewgrantryan@gmail.com

Thanks :)

This reminded me I had a bit of difficulty as well.
I tried to post a screenshot, but that didn't work...
There are 3 similar slab images for the upper left/right corners. One has 2 horizontal lines of equal length. One has a shorter right horizontal line, another has a shorter left horizontal line. The correct corner tiles would be one of the tiles with a shorter horizontal line, the shorter horizontal line facing the middle. Might be this is the confusion, maybe not. I do remember now that I scratched my head for a bit thinking I had the correct solution when I didn't.

When you go upstairs, are you in the room with the pink beds? According to the guide

First area:
Light up the candles off and on until the path opens.

There are two candles on either side of the gate. Maybe playing around with those two candles?

I will edit those two corner tiles as it seems to be confusing people. I'll make the variation bigger so they don't look so similar.

The two blue fires lit means two of the rooms are correct. I'm guessing it's this upstairs room that is not finished. So first I'd suggest what LadyJJ suggested: mess around with the 2 candles on the lower level of this room to open that first gate. Then light up candles 1-4 in the 2nd part and that will lower the 2nd gate. Then light up candles 5 and 6. These two candles being lit are the ones that light up the blue light in the basement, and with all 3 blue lights on downstairs, the gate should open. I hope this helps.

I'm glad you got it figured out :) I want to edit those two tiles as I mentioned above since it seems to be confusing people.

Edit: I updated the game and guide to make the solution to look like this:

The top two corners shouldn't get confused with the plus sign-looking piece now with this change.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your help yesterday. I continued on from the older save as I told you as the file I sent you just didn't seem to work for me. Maybe it was because I'd had a number of goes at the core puzzle and I think I did the alternate one to get the chest first - that my have been the problem. When I started it over I did it in the correct sequence. It is a really terrific game.

I have a picture of where I think you might be stuck:

If you get to this part here, you can break through the wall here where the light is coming through. Just interact with it a few times and it will break open as you do.

To get the key, you have to get a crystal in the big room ahead and the shady guy outside the prison boardroom will offer you the key for it.

I hope this helps

I really can't afford to buy the guide as I bought 2 games here already this month. Any help to saving the girl would be great! I've got 3 party members and have been thrown in jail more times than I want to count lol
+::sos Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for the compliment :) I'm glad you like the story. It was definitely a focus for me when making this game.

And no worries, it's not my intention to have the game be so hard you need a guide. I want the guide to be optional. The prison is pretty tough. It's a bunch of smaller puzzles in one dungeon. So depending on the part you're at, the solution will be different. A lot of the guards block areas off and you can't get by them until you do something. I'm not sure what part you're stuck at, so I'll give hints of parts I think are easiest to miss. I'll spoil tag the hints:
Spoiler: show
The hardest part I think for me would be the cat on the 2nd floor. When you "talk" to that cat, it alerts a guard and he runs over to see what the noise was. As he runs by, you can sneak into one of the cells and then run to where he was standing guard. You can get into a cell previously blocked off, break through a wall and get to a new area.

The next hint is after you get into the locked boardroom, you can ring a bell. The bell is an alarm that causes a lot of the guards to leave their posts and go outside. Because of this, you can get upstairs through a different path, which in turn leads to a new area. There is a hint in the game about where to go from here, but the new path forward is in this new area.

I'm not sure if this covers your specific issue, and if not, feel free to comment again, but I hope this is a good starting point and might help out others as well.

Also: Tilde-e, the prophet in Hovia (at one of the market stands) gives hints for the part you're currently on. She might not help for every issue that comes up, but I think she'll come in handy.

Ok so I ring the bell and then try to hide but the huge chair is in the way and I cant go the other way cause the guard comes to fast. Then I get taken back to the cell and get out and go back and ALL the gaurds are at their posts

Hi again, I'm glad you got the last part figured out :)

As for this part, not all guards leave their posts, but the ones in this room do:
Image
This room is on the bottom floor, more towards the center of the prison. With these guards out of the way, you can go upstairs through this room which will allow you to get to another part of the prison.
Spoiler: show
In this new area, you want to look for a room with a lot of cracks. You can break through this area and go downstairs.
