Yeah, I've kind of given up on the crystal puzzle in Vordenstople Palace Study. These puzzles really aren't for me which is why I purchase these type of games to avoid them. Not one for timing and many of the puzzles you can't solve without the guide and yet I spent a great deal of time deciphering the guide because some of the explanations were puzzling in themselves. I think it's a terrific game just not what I expected. If I had known about the crystal puzzles, timing etc, beforehand, I wouldn't have purchased it.
On a side note, there are oodles of weapons, armor etc, to be found but the majority of it wasn't beneficial to any character as the negatives seemed to outweigh the positives. Same as I ended up with a ton of cash and nothing to spend it on as what I needed most - mana potions, you couldn't buy by themselves. Might want to consider a better balance with items etc. Have to say that this is the first game I've never finished.
Please note that this is my personal opinion and others may enjoy it. I thought it spendy (with the guide, which you need), and a bit frustrating.

Since it's come up a couple times now, I'll just update it so that Easy Mode bypasses the need to do the Vordenstople crystal puzzles completely. I liked the puzzle a lot myself, but since it seems like others don't, it makes sense to just make it skippable. As for the items, I feel like some of the ones that have downsides are good for specific builds. Ascetic's Axe negates using other equipment, but its base stats are so good, that it can be worth using. The shields and armor that prevent using a weapon can make support characters really hard to kill. I thought the Great Bill was really strong for Krantz even if it made him slow.

Edit: New version is up (Easy Mode skips the crystal puzzles in Vordenstople Palace).

To break the cycle of on/off/on/off since there are 4 sensors, which makes it even, you have to skip one of the sensors:

I finished the library and turned the switch to open the Hovia Manor Center but I still can't into the lounge or go up the center. I have followed the guide and after the switch it should open but nothing has happened. Stuck here for awhile after trying pretty much everything I can think of.

For Area 2, you have to activate the crystal at orange #1 until it's the biggest form. Then at the black #1, there's a water ripple there that you can activate. After you activate that, you go back to the first crystal and set it to its medium size. Then go back to the water ripple and turn it off. Now you can go up to the top of the map at the 2nd crystal and set it to the biggest size. From there, you can go to the top right of the map and the exit is opened (if you're on Easy, otherwise set the 3rd crystal to its smallest form first).

For Area 3 you have to activate the crystals in the order: 4, 3, and 2. (Set the crystals to their smallest size).

Then you can get the items at the top of the map there. After that, activate crystal 1 and then you can get out at the top right.

I hope this helps

For this part, the energy crystals have to be in their smallest form (state 0) because they interfere with the energy bridge at the top right. Changing them to their smaller form causes rocks to pop up on the path, so deactivating them in the order 4, 3, 2, 1 will allow you to get through the path without getting blocked.

Hmm, I can try to think of something that will make it easier to follow. With how much teleporting there is, I feel like it would be tough to make a diagram...so I'll give it some thought. In the meantime, if you highlight (in the guide) the portal path you're currently on as you do it, that might help you keep track of where you are. If you're confused by the sequence, example: 4 -> right. -- the number 4 indicates the portal on the Castle Ruins map (Map #62) that you step on. Then, where it teleports you, you move to the right. And so on. The portals are indicated by the numbers in the orange box. I hope this helps.

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment and I'm glad you're liking it :) I made it pretty tough because I love puzzles in RPGs and the combat in a lot of the classic RPGs always felt a bit easy to me. I hope save everywhere and easy mode help out the players that don't feel the same as I do about RPG games so that more people can enjoy the game.

How do you get to 2 without getting teleported somewhere else? It has to be in order right? So you have to get to the 2 and go from there

How do you get to 2 without getting teleported somewhere else? It has to be in order right? So you have to get to the 2 and go from there

In the guide, there's one last step to get to #2:
Go to Orange #12 on Portal Square Section (Note: Not the 12 on the Castle Ruins map (Map #62), but the unnumbered map under it that shows all the portals). Then:
2 -> down. 1 -> right. Unlocked. Go to #2 on the Castle Ruins map and it well teleport you to the room with the Ancient Text.

The second part there explains it, but it's in a new paragraph, so maybe you missed it. If not, maybe this next part will help:

I'm going to upload an updated version of the game that makes the puzzles easier today. For example, this ruins puzzle, on Easy, the portals won't be unlit if you step on them a second time, so you won't have to worry about doing the order perfectly.

EDIT: newest version is up. A lot of the puzzles are easier on Easy Mode.

Hey blumyst

Hmm, they are supposed to stay lit if you mean this corner here with the portals. If you're on Easy Mode that is. On Normal Mode, they will still unlight if you step on them again.

The idea of the puzzle is you light up all these portals, and then the way will be opened up to go to where the Ancient Text is.

So, on your game, these ones aren't lit up even with the puzzle done? I'm just trying to figure out what's wrong.
