bgillisp wrote:About the saving thing, I can offer some advice which may explain it. The RPGMaker used for this engine requires all filenames and directories to follow networking rules, which means no spaces can exist in the directory names. In fact, if any file has spaces in it too you could hit an error as well.

Some symbols are not allowed either, but I don't remember exact details on which ones.

Anyways, that may help explain it if anyone else hits it. So don't install the game in a directory where any directory in the tree has spaces, else it will have problems.

That explains a lot.
Which installation path did you use for The Book of Shadows? I might just use the same...
While I've got huge experience on some previous RPG Makers, this is my first game on the "new" MV one. It's hard to predict all those stupid behaviors a software is going to have... especially about saving, really poor way of coding that part. +::Dunno +::Annoyed

I just used The Book of Shadows, but ACE doesn't have that issue. The issue arises due to MV having cross platform deployment and none of the other OS that you can deploy to will be able to handle the spaces and such, so MV had to disable it for Windows too. Otherwise we'd get slammed with why does this work on Windows but not on Mac or Android posts?

Well it's something they should warn us of still, shouldn't they?
Anyway, I think it's possible for some PC users to use spaces in their names, so I need to find a better installation path, so to make sure it'll work with everyone.

Yeah probably the best solution. Though I'm honestly amazed it never did this with you while creating it, as it is not supposed to work at all for anyone if there are spaces in the directories, the dev or testers or players.

Computers huh?

Anyways, don't wanna derail this thread either. So congrats on the release too! I may have to pick it up on payday.

Re: Game Installation folder.

The appdata folder has been used by 4 demo games in the recent past if this of any help. The folder names are:
RoamingMcurse
RoamingSeeker
RoamingThora
RoamingTSMNR

These folders are installed in the appdata folder. The only problem that might happen is that most systems have the appdata folder "hidden" from the user. Most other games have been installed in the "Roaming" subfolder instead of the (x86) Program Folder.

Loving the game so far. I'm at 2 hours and soon leaving for port town .... hopefully. No problem with saves since following your path advice, Indi.

For me the game works perfectly and no bugs or problems with saves and other things reported here ....

BUT I found one bug : The key for sprint(Shift) stops working and the characters only walk slowly now.... also in order games there was an option for "always dashing" - and I could move fast all the time without pressing shift ... that would be great if you can make it available again in the updated version of the game.

For me the game too works perfectly. Regarding the sprint issue: my characters automatically walk fast. Never used the SHIFT key for that.

They should work at the same speed everywhere. Where did the change happen?

so for Valdy the characters always walk fast ? Damn ...
The change happened in the beginning in town - they were moving fast and then boom it stopped when I entered a house or something like that - then I never got the speed back in town or any other region so far.

It's super change because they should always walk quite fast (but not super duper fast). They should never be slow anyway, and never change speed.

Ok, replayed...now health isn't deleting off of Slime C in first battle with Slime Quest. Smh...but the alt F4 worked great to end game quick. Going back on and skipping this quest. I'd like to know f anyone else is having this problem or just me. I didn't uninstall first one before I installed second download cuz I was trying to save my saves. But they didn't save anyway.
I'm probably computer illiterate today. Sorry to be a pain, just wanted to let you know.
