Weapon choices

Postby soloms » Sat Nov 28, 2009 2:17 am

I am quite confused as to why I am asked to choose between different weapon/skill choices at the beginning. In particular what is the difference between having the dwarf (grom?) use an axe vs claws? Is there anywhere that I could learn about the difference and why one is better/worse than the other? The same is true for sword vs knife for the main character.

Is this a sequel to another game where some of those difference already become clear?

No. It's not a sequel. You just get to choose which weapon you would like them to have.

The first time I played, Glen had a sword and Grom had an axe and another character who comes later had a bow.

The second time thru Glen had a sword and Grom had claws and the other character had a staff.

As far as I can tell, one is no better than the other. They each have their good points and bad points.

as previously stated it really depends on preference
Sword has high STAT damage
Knife has moderate STAT damage, and Blade attribute

Axe has high STAT damage
Claw has moderate STAT damage, and 2x hit

I'm not sure with Bow and Staff

If I play a third time, I will chose bow over staff. It seems to be a better weapon but I don't have any stats to back that up.

I like the claw better for Grom but he doesn't always hit. If you use the rush option, when it's his turn he just stands there like he's defending even though you didn't tell him to. I don't know if this is a glitch or a problem with the memory in my computer but it only happens with Grom.

I had this problem in Millennium but I finally tracked it down to a certain piece of equipment that let the people hit twice. If it was equipped, no matter who it was equipped on they would just stand there once in a while. If it wasn't equipped, I didn't have the problem.

Since the claw is a two hit weapon, maybe that's the key to the hesitations.

I didn't choose the knife for Glen because I didn't want to try a new weapon with all of the fighters without knowing how the other weapons would work

What do you mean with Blade attribute and STAT? I only played a part of Millenium and I cannot recall what the weapons where when I played it or their differences.

I had Rayanne with bow and I equipped her at first with either the Fireball bow(relic) which was good for fire power. Then I used the Astral bow(relic) light power and hit x2 and then I found the Cyprus Bow which I found to be the best for her in my own opinion.

She in my opinion does not have as powerful weapon attacks as the rest of the party. I relied on her skills more than just bow attacks.
