Hello! As a matter of fact, which is Side Quest No1 and how is it triggered? I beat the Mantis, nothing! I lost to the mantis on purpose, nothing again! (But in that dave, I had already beaten the pool boss)

well, for me it didn't work..the escape button doesn't apply to this battle..i remember that on my1st playthrough Sarah said "this is the giant mantis" or something..now, every time i begin the battle Luci and Sarah say that they dont want to be in ts clutches and that's it.. i kill it but no quest done..what action does trigger the quest exactly?

Like it says in the thread I linked: Escape danger when Sarah has joined you.

i am sorry, maybe the fact that i am not english-native speaker makes this more complicated for me..escape danger constantly till you see the mantis?

I reloaded a save from before Luci meets up with Sarah just to see how this is done. Like many others here, I had thought you needed to escape from the battle, which is clearly not an option, so thank you for posting that menu image. Here's what happens-

After Sarah joins the party, before you encounter the mantis, select Escape Danger from the menu as shown above. A dialogue comes up saying there is no danger here but then Sarah says well there could be 'cuz there's this giant mantis that spies on her. She then says how awesome it would be to tell Random that she and Luci killed the mantis by themselves and you are then given the quest. Kill the mantis and it's Quest Complete.

Oddly, Sarah never does boast to Random about how she and Luci were able to find and defeat the mantis.

Luciana quickly takes over by then (when they meet Random) and by the time she explains there's gonna be a big council in Indinera, nobody cares about the mantis anymore.
