Gyrion/cult of the sea

Is there a trick to defeating Gyrion? (One of the Godslayers quests) I get to the third battle easily but the "open stare" paralyzes everybody. I'm about to give up.

Equipping the accessory Sha's will protect at least one member against being paralysed. There may be others.
