Why have a sell function when you can't sell anything but the stuff that you just bought?

Why can't we sell other items that we no longer have a need for like the Slings etc??

And sometimes you need to save your money. If you go into the dream in NY without enough money to buy the items the girls sells, you can't go back without the meteor getting you.
