What genre of games appeal to you most?
Which do you really just not get?

Do you like simple and easy to play - or a bit more of a challenge?

I lean towards general rpgs, though I also play a few online, action and sci-fi games. One thing I've never realy understood is fps. I've played many (at the request of my friends) but the only one I have ever liked was the old single player Doom 2.

Anyway, if I wanted a complex story led by dynamic characters that aren't easily categorised into facile dichotomies of good and bad with no clear arc or easily predicted outcome, I'd have left the theatre and lived my damn life. Brownian

I'd have to say my love are text RPG's. I've played them for 10 years at least, starting back at DragonRealms, Herc/Xena and Gemstone. Though I still have a HUGE love for the old school stuff, which of course reminds me of the games here. As long as you all keep making them,
I'll keep torturing myself by playing them. I'm not the best at them, but I'll always try my heart out. :)

I prefer games that are easy or if hard, then those that come with a write-up that will get me where I need to go! brain162 :)

I agree Framboesa, I also enjoy "casual" games like hidden object and time management - especially whem I'm taking a lunchbreak at work! I also like adventure/mystery genre games like the Nancy Drew Series.

Well, I like quite a few genres...

-Adventure games (like Monkey Island, Space Quest, and the Kyrandia games)
-RTS games (like Warcraft, Starcraft, and Age of Empires)
-Puzzle games (like, say, Boulder Dash)
-RPGs (obviously)
-Wing Commander games (tactical shooter/space simulation)
-Very occasionally, I'll play some old platform games.
-Adventure/RPG/Action hybrid games (like Dink Smallwood).

As for difficulty, I prefer hard games... provided they're *cleverly* hard (like, say, the Warcraft III single player campaign on hard mode). Games with ridiculously randomized difficulty ("oh, look, I can't beat that boss because my hit rate is only 5%! I can't increase it either, so I have to reload a hundred times so I can beat it!") or RPGs where the sole difficulty is to spend hours levelling up or finding secrets just aren't for me (which is another reason why I like Indy's games, actually. While you can spend a lot of time levelling up to make the game easier, it's usually not required, and success tends to depend more on your playing skills - this is especially obvious with the Blazers' tournament in LP1).
I usually stay away from easy or imbalanced games... Unless I find the story interesting enough (this was more or less the case for The Way : I found the story to be very interesting, and some of the minigames and puzzles were pretty cool, but the fights are very imbalanced, and for a game that has a lot of combat, that's definitely not good).
